Day 14. Leaving for San Francisco by bus. Even though I knew I'll come back in a week or so, I was already missing them and the city. But at the same time I was excited to be alone in the place I had never been with no plan.
１４日目。バスでサンフランシスコへと向かう。１週間ぐらいでまた戻ってくるのはわかってたけど、もう既に２人とこの街が恋しいような気持ちでした。でもそれと同時に、全く知らない所に一人で、しかもノープランで行くことにワクワクしていました。

LAとSFの間のどこか。たくさんの僧とカメラクルーがいました。

After the 8 hour drive, finally entering San Francisco!! So excited to come to the place where all the legendary beatniks used to gather. I guess I was listening to Lou Reed through this bridge. Take a walk on the wild side?
８時間のドライブの末、ついにサンフランシスコ！伝説のビートニクたちが集まった街に来たことに興奮。たしかこの時はルー・リードを聴いてました。ワイルドサイドを歩け？

When I got there it was way colder than in LA. I wore all my clothes and socks on the street. And a pajama top as a scarf. I didn't even know which way I should go after I got off the bus. And I was too lazy to reserve the place to stay. Literally no plan.

So anyway I wandered around. I googled the youth hostels in town and went to one of them but it was full. So I kept wandering and finally found one in downtown. I'm sure the guy at the desk there was Japanese and he saw my passport so I guess he knew I'm Japanese,too. But we kept talking in English and not even a word in Japanese. Strange. Anyway I found that the movie theater near there was playing Mike Mills' new movie Beginners. I really wanted to see it but missed it. It took too long to get the key for the room or whatever. No plan again.

So I searched again for the movies and decided to visit one called Sundance Kabuki Theater in Japanese/Korean town. I saw Crazy Stupid Love at 9pm there.
I didn't know which bus I should take to get there so I walked for like half an hour. Downtown was full of weird people and the smell of weed. I was a little nervous but kept walking fast. After the movie I wanted to catch a cab but couldn't find one so I walked back to the hostel. It was pretty scary. I think staying alone in downtown was a mistake. Anyways, got back safely to the hostel with bunch of dumb Europeans. Hey, why do I always have to go see the movies no matter where I am...

サンフランシスコに到着すると、LAより大分寒くて驚き。道端ですぐに持っていた服や靴下を全部着て、パジャマの上をマフラー代わりにしました。バスを降りたまま、右も左もわからないし、泊まるところも予約してなかったし。本当に文字通り、ノープラン。
とにかく歩き廻って、近くのユースホステルをググって、その内に一つをあたってみたけれど、満室。しょうがないので更に歩き続けてやっと、ダウンタウンにて確保。受付の男性、絶対日本人だったと思うし、パスポートをチェックしたから彼も私が日本人だとわかってたはずなんだけど、何故か日本語は一切無しでずっと英語だった。不思議。
それはさておき、近くの映画館でマイク・ミルズの新作『人生はビギナーズ』がやってるのを見付けて、どうしても観たかったんだけど間に合わず。もう１回なにやってるかネットで探して、日本／韓国タウンにあるサンダンス歌舞伎シアターというところでCrazy Stupid Loveをやってるのを発見して、夜９時ぐらいの回で観に行きました。そこまでの道程、どのバスに乗ったら良いのかわからなくて、迷うのも面倒なので３０分ぐらい歩きました。サンフランシスコのダウンタウンは本当に、変人と大麻の匂いでいっぱい。ドキドキしながら早足で歩き続けました。帰りはタクシーに乗りたかったんだけど、捕まらなくて、また歩き。なかなか恐怖でした。ダウンタウンのホステルに泊まるというのはちょっと間違いだったかな。しかし、なにはともあれ無事に、馬鹿っぽいヨーロッパ人だらけのホステルへ帰還。というか、なんで私はどこにいても映画観に行ってばかりなの。。。

good morning cold gray weather. I though SF is always sunny and bright.
寒くてグレーな天気です、朝です。SFっていつも晴れてて明るい感じだと思ってた。

North Beach area. Jack Kerouac street by City Lights Books. And its also close to the Beat Museum.
I met a Japanese girl Yukie here. She's into the beatnik stuff, too and also she told me she loves Gus Van Sant so much and moved to Portland from Japan. wow!
ノースビーチエリア。ジャック・ケルアック通り、シティライツブックスの隣。ビートミュージアムからも近い。
ここでユキエちゃんという日本人の女の子に出会いました。彼女もビートとかが好きで、それからガス・ヴァン・サントが好きすぎて日本からポートランドに移住したこと教えてくれました。すごいね！
